I had one writing friend, and we both had to write quickly to pay the bills. She sorta gave me the value of "never waste a word." (We got paid by the word.) So I can't even begin until I know what it's about. On the other hand, I'm not good at explaining it in "hook" form. If forced to write a blurb, it takes me about three weeks. Hate those things! I can know them, but if forced to explain it without preparation, I'll bury all the important stuff! You know, I didn’t “grow up” as a writer amongst writers. Thanks for shining a spotlight on exactly why I'm stuck. I've known that I need to settle on what exactly about this story and these characters I need to focus on for a while now and making that decision and then writing to it is way past due. Thanks.
