NaNoWriMo – 32 Hours and Counting

by Bill

I’ve been wondering how I could make my NaNoWriMo 30-day novel writing binge useful to others–to be of some service to “the larger community.” Here’s what I decided. I’m going to file daily reports of my progress, noting successes, failures, challenges, problems, solutions, exulting, complaining, crowing, whining, all with reference to my project IN REAL TIME––the next best thing to writing it in a store window.

You can travel with me as I write what I’m calling “A Perfect Couple.” (And more on that as we go.)

But here’s the deal: after churning out my 1,500 words first thing every morning, then combing the Internet for cool material for a post, then writing that post… I doubt I’ll feel much like writing even MORE. So click on the arrow below for a first try at how I expect to report to you each day…

Asking friends and family provide word-count guilt trips, hosting Thank God It’s Over parties, generally encouraging people to become writers…Bill, you never mentioned that the NaNoWriMo people are borderline psychotic.

Naturally, I had to sign up. Here’s to 50,000.

I look forward to hearing a beat every day about what you’ve faced and where you are. I’m going to be trying to write my novel too so this will be, uh, interesting. Or terrifying or whatever. We’ll see and we’ll see you struggling. That should be a comfort!

Wow! If NaNoWriMo were only a money making proposition, I might be getting some affiliate income for driving traffic their way. Welcome to hell, Ryan.

Good luck to all who will be embarking upon the naNoWriMo journey! May you reach your destination intact…at least physically.

More importantly…try to enjoy the journey!
